Baikunthapur Sishu Seva Kendra (BSSK) is a non-government organization registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961. The organization was initiated in 1978 as a sister organization of CINI. It has worked for over thirty years on Maipith Island of Sundarban delta region, South 24 Parganas District, West Bengal, with a focus on distressed women and children.

Mission: Broad and holistic sustainable development of the community, with an emphasis on distressed women and children in the Sundarban delta of West Bengal.

Objective:

 To improve education, health and nutrition status of neglected children and mothers of remote Sundarban areas through comprehensive health and nutrition program.

 To improve socio-economic condition of the poorer section of Sundarban area through various programs appropriate for the area.

Area of operation:

BSSK is working in nine villages of an Island called Maipith, covering two Gram Panchayats situated namely Maipith-Baikunthapur and Gurguria-Bhubaneswari in Kultali Block of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. Also working in Patharpratima, Mathurapur-I & II blocks of South 24 Parganas. More

 Disaster Management and Relief including Housing for Flood Affected Families and   Shelter Support
 Education Support for poor children
 Direct Material Benefits through Child Sponsorship Project
 Organization and Participation of Women and Youth Groups
 Protecting the Biodiversity of Sundarban
 Alternative livelihood of poor families dependent on nature and enhance monthly   income of poor families through income generation programmes
 Strengthening local institutions in two Gram Panchayats
