Baikunthapur Sishu Seva Kendra (BSSK) is a non-government organization registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961. The organization was initiated in 1978 as a sister organization of CINI. It has worked for over thirty years on Maipith Island of Sundarban delta region, South 24 Parganas District, West Bengal, with a focus on distressed women and children.
Mission: Broad and holistic sustainable development of the community, with an emphasis on distressed women and children in the Sundarban delta of West Bengal.
Objective:
To improve education, health and nutrition status of neglected children and mothers of remote Sundarban areas through comprehensive health and nutrition program.
To improve socio-economic condition of the poorer section of Sundarban area through various programs appropriate for the area.
Area of operation:
BSSK is working in nine villages of an Island called Maipith, covering two Gram Panchayats situated namely Maipith-Baikunthapur and Gurguria-Bhubaneswari in Kultali Block of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.
